Capt. John Uhr II of Rockport, Texas passed away Thursday, December 30,
2010.  He was born in El Paso, Texas on Jan 2, 1962 and developed a love
for the outdoors the minute he met it.
He was known to many as "Little John", "Johnny
Bastante", "Johnny Longhorn", "Hot Johnny"
and...well...with countless friends around the
world...there are most likely more names not listed here.
His humorous personality and love for life lead him in to
the hearts of just about anybody that ever met him.
He was just a few days shy of
49 years on this earth when
he passed and often spoke
of what a wonderful life he'd
had.  He was happy fishing
and hunting, so that's exactly
what he did his entire life.
He was most well known for his passion for
sportfishing.  He began chasing marlin around
the world at a very early age and competed in
countless national and international tournaments
for most of his life.  He was recognized as one of
the top-ranking professional boat captains in the
world throughout the sportfishing community.
Among the list of boats he captained are "La
Cosa Real", "Bastante", "Chupacabra" and most
recently, "Seay Goddess".  Along with many
tournament wins and other great fishing
accomplishments, he was also inducted to the
Texas Maritime Museum's Wall of Fame.  He
could catch just about anything that swam,
whether it be a speckled trout in the bays of his
hometown or a giant marlin in seas far and wide.
When he wasn't fishing, he was hunting.  He
grew up spending his time away from boats at
his family ranch in Beeville, Texas and also
traveled the world enjoying as much time in
the woods as he could before returning to the
high seas in search of the "big one" year after
year.  His wife, Cindy shared the same love
and passion for the outdoors and was often
by his side on his many adventures.
He was considered a "living legend" by
some and countless stories shared by
family and friends will surely be handed
down through many generations.
He was truly
"the outdoorsman's outdoorsman"
and lived his life
doing what he loved.

He was definitely "one of a kind" and
will live on in the hearts of so many
who knew and loved him forever.
